FOODIES & FASHION - EXHIBITION 70 YEARS DIOR

September 27, 2017

When ‘Foodies Have Arrived’ goes on a citytrip to Paris, it’s all about the latest hotspots, the best baguette and the most delicious icecream. But are culinary excesses the only thing we have on or mind? No. It’s also about new inspiration, design, meeting new people and…fashion. So when we saw that The Musée des Arts Décoratifs was hosting a Dior exhibition, we immediately booked tickets. And as it’s Paris Fashionweek, we would love to share our experience.

Pre-order your ticket

The museum is located in one of the wings of the Louvre building. Buy your tickets online and you can skip the line at the Rue de Rivoli. When you buy the ‘Billet Rivoli’ at € 11 you can see both the permanent collection and the Dior exhibition. Be prepared for a crowd of (female) visitors but despite that, it’s absolutely worth it!

The master and his successors

The exhibition is organised in honour of the 70th anniversary of the Dior and is not only about the Master himself but also about the illustrious couturiers who succeeded him: Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and, most recently, Maria Grazia Chiuri. They showcase more than 300 haute couture gowns designed between 1947 and now.

A true feast for you eyes

And they sure know how to show them! In different rooms with different themes you dive in to the world of haute couture. It’s absolutely incredible and breathtaking. They lead you through the eras, the different designers and the history of the Dior House. When you think you’ve seen it all, you are led to yet another impressive room with beautiful dresses. My favourites were the colorama where all the designes are collated by colour and the Stars in Dior room. The tailoring room, white and bright, will give you more insight in how the seamstresses work. Two of them are always present and showing how they work from initial design to the actual dress. The grand finale is the Dior Ball Room, where you will dive into glitter, glamour and so many dresses it’s a feast for your eyes.
