SHOPPING - HOFKWARTIER THE HAGUE

December 14, 2018

This time of the year is ideal for some shopping in The Hague....well anytime of the year is actually perfect for shopping in The Hague. But where do you need to go if you don't want to go to the dime a dozen shops? Absolutely go to the Hofkwartier (roughly translated: Court Quarter) in The Hague!

Recently publisher 'time to momo' (known from the 100% travelguides) has launched a miniguide about this Royal area in The Hague. Local Lorraine Wernsing guides you through her city and shares her favourite restaurants, cafes, museums, shops and galleries. The mini guide is available via the stores in the Hofkwartier but also via the time to momo app and website.

I was invited with Mariska from Marvelousz and Heidi from Fabulous Feeling to experience the best places myself. The main shopping streets in this area are the Denneweg, Hoogstraat, Noordeinde and the surrounding little streets like the Oude Molstraat  and the Papestraat. To satisfy you inner foodie, these are the places you will like!

Hug the Tea

We started of at the teasisters from Hug the Tea. I already knew this Matcha heaven from our first The Hague Foodbloggerstour that I organised with Anne-Marie from My Happy Kitchen. In that year and a half they have grown immensely. Their green Matcha tea is 100% pure and bio and is now sold at EkoPlaza. They come in three variants. Great work Claire & Lisa!

Lola Coffee & Bikes

I have passed this shop many times as it has been here already for years. If I had known it is such an inspiring shop, I would have had my cup of Lola coffee way sooner! These guys have lots of love for bikes AND coffee! Apparently cyclists have this thing with coffee. It is so important for them they even asked Lola to arrange all the coffee during the worldchampionship in Innsbruck. But apart from making a great cup of coffee and selling bikes, Lola also makes the world a bit better. By buying coffee directly from the farmer in Columbia and organise charity bike tours. Lola is Lola... well... I love her!

Coffeelicious

Born in Dordrecht I have known this coffee place for quite a long time. After opening  two stores in Dordrecht, one in Rotterdam and one in Breda, they have now opened their most impressive shop in The Hague. With an Irish background, owner Fiona has a penchant for baking. These sweet goodies are served in a beautiful floral and historical decor. An absolute must-visit and must-eat!

Saplab

Foodies Have Arrived is a big fan of this slowjuice store at the Denneweg in The Hague as you can also read in our article about them. Perfect for your daily portion of healthy fruits and veggies in a bottle. My personal favourite is the ginger shot! OK you absolutely need a small warning before downing this shot (pure ginger is quite sharp) but if definitely gives a boost to your day!

Walter Benedict

As my oldest son is called Walter, I am a bit biase about this restuarant. As it also in one of my fabourite streets in The Hague, I love to come here.  They serve a great variety of charcuterie and their oysters are absolutely 'to die for'!
